ImageDecades of neglect to finance Downtown District demands have made a mess of Cedar Rapids streets. The Mayor of the City that no longer smells has scheduled a made for television event.     If you go, trust your nose more than your ears.
News Conference: Mayor Corbett to address street challenges
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – February 24, 2014 – The combination of this winter’s rain and deep freezes has made conditions ripe for potholes and other pavement stress. Mayor Ron Corbett will share how the City is maintaining ongoing vigilance in addressing pothole issues, and will inform citizens of measures the Public Works Department is implementing for immediate needs. City Manager Jeff Pomeranz will share the long-term goals of the City as it implements the first year of a multi-year street repair campaign funded by the local option sales tax. Dave Elgin, Public Works Director; and Craig Hanson, Public Works Maintenance Manager, will also be available to answer specific questions on the topic.
