Wow, I can’t believe some of the things coming out of Rand Paul’s mouth there live on CSPAN. Just kidding, yes I can. You don’t grow up with Ron Paul as a father and not come away with deeply rooted ideas against tyranny.

I love that he is standing up for the constitution. I love the anti-war statements he’s made. He is covering a lot of ground. Could you imagine having all that information at your fingertips to cover more than 12 hours of time? I am impressed with the other senators who have come forward to help Rand. Under no circumstances should the government be able to use drones against American’s overseas or on our soil without due process.
Rand Paul will make his own path in politics and this filibuster is the beginning of that. I am thankful he grew up in a home where patriotism and the Constitution is at the utmost importance. I feel like the questions that Senator Rand Paul brought up are legitimate and must be answered!
I have been against the drones since I learned of their existence. I do not like the idea of killing people at cafes, weddings, or barbeques. That’s cowardice and cruel. We should never have “collateral damage” and to all you American’s who still think it’s a good idea to have this drone program here at home– well I just don’t know what to make of you or your kind.
I was very unhappy with Rand and his support for Mitt Romney during the election but I felt like he made up for that a little bit today. He still has a long way to go but he’s done more to protect our constitution than any other senator on that floor!

I am so glad that the people who live near Cleveland Park spoke out against the “Time Check Recreation Center” going in their backyard. From my understanding the city didn’t start the recreation center– it was started by the neighbors of Time Check and was later taken over by the city’s “parks and recreation” department.
We haven’t had the recreation center for five years. I think that the city has gone too far in asking for federal handouts. With all of the other disasters that have happened since our flood I can’t imagine every disaster going the route Cedar Rapids did and getting very far with the federal government. I hope that FEMA comes back and holds these people accountable for the waste and corruption that has taken place here since the 2008 flood.
If you don’t think the city is spending federal money like it’s free money then you need to take a look at councilman Chuck Swore in this video below.

Christopher Jordan Dorner a former Police Officer for the LAPD wrote a manifesto. before he went on his rampage in Southern California. We all know how it is don’t we? Corruption runs deep in every city, town, and state in America. No one is lucky enough to live in a corrupt free society. The problem with our corrupt society is that it has destroyed our sentiment and moral nature as a whole.
Do you think this manifesto should prompt an investigation on the allegations made? Should the LAPD be investigated? Should the LAPD admit to Dorner’s claims and end the rampage?
Things we never imagined could happen have happened. It started way before Columbine, Waco, and Oklahoma City. We watched the World Trade Centers disintegrate live on television and every one of us knew something wasn’t right. The attack on the Pentagon still isn’t clear and none of the facts add up with the missing plane over Pennsylvania. Building #7 falling along with the twin towers without ever being hit by any airplane prompted ‘conspiracy theorists’ around the world who believe it was a planned demolition.
I don’t know what to think of the former officers actions but I can say I don’t agree with his methodology. He sounded like a smart guy and it’s too bad he didn’t find another outlet. He could have written a book. We won’t know though unless he is brought in alive and from reading the manifesto the only way that would happen is if his name was cleared. I think that we can learn more from him alive than we can dead. I would think there may be some validity to Dorner’s claims in his manifesto after two women were shot by the LAPD.
“Two women who were delivering newspapers in Torrance, Calif., early Thursday were shot by jittery Los Angeles police officers who mistakenly thought cop-hunting fugitive Christopher Dorner might be in their vehicle”, NBCLosAngeles.com reported. Read more: http://nbcnews.to/XTSJic
“I know I will be vilified by the LAPD and the media”
“The department has not changed since the Rampart and Rodney King days. It has gotten worse. The consent decree should never have been lifted. The only thing that has evolved from the consent decree is those officers involved in the Rampart scandal and Rodney King incidents have since promoted to supervisor, commanders, and command staff, and executive positions.”
“A name is more than just a noun, verb, or adjective. It’s your life, your legacy, your journey, sacrifices, and everything you’ve worked hard for every day of your life as and adolescent, young adult and adult.

Don’t let anybody tarnish it when you know you’ve live up to your own set of ethics and personal ethos.”
“I’m not an aspiring rapper, I’m not a gang member, I’m not a dope dealer, I don’t have multiple babies momma’s. I am an American by choice, I am a son, I am a brother, I am a military service member, I am a man who has lost complete faith in the system, when the system betrayed, slandered, and libeled me. I lived a good life and though not a religious man I always stuck to my own personal code of ethics, ethos and always stuck to my shoreline and true North. I didn’t need the US Navy to instill Honor, Courage, and Commitment in me but I thank them for re-enforcing it. It’s in my DNA.”
“Luckily I don’t have to live everyday like most of you. Concerned if the misconduct you were apart of is going to be discovered. Looking over your shoulder, scurrying at every phone call from internal affairs or from the Captains office wondering if that is the day PSB comes after you for the suspects you struck when they were cuffed months/years ago or that $500 you pocketed from the narcotics dealer, or when the other guys on your watch beat a transient nearly to death and you never reported the UOF to the supervisor. No, I don’t have that concern, I stood up for what was right but unfortunately have dealt with the reprocussions of doing the right thing and now losing my name and everything I ever stood for. You fuckers knew Evans was guilty of kicking (excessive force) Gettler and you did nothing but get rid of what you saw as the problem, the whistleblower. Gettler himself stated on video tape ( provided for the BOR and in transcripts) he was kicked and even his father stated that his son said he was kicked by Evans when he was released from custody. The video was played for the entire BOR to hear. Tingirides, Eisenberg, and Martella all heard it. You’re going to see what a whistleblower can do when you take everything from him especially his NAME!!!”
“Chief Beck, this is when you need to have that come to Jesus talk with Sgt. Teresa Evans and everyone else who was involved in the conspiracy to have me terminated for doing the right thing. you also need to speak with her attorney, Rico, and his conversation with the BOR members and her confession of guilt in kicking Mr. Gettler. I’ll be waiting for a PUBLIC response at a press conference. When the truth comes out, the killing stops.”
“The attacks will stop when the department states the truth about my innocence, PUBLICLY!!! I will not accept any type of currency/goods in exchange for the attacks to stop, nor do i want it. I want my name back, period. There is no negotiation. I am not the state department who states they
do not negotiate with terrorist, because anybody with a Secret or TS/SCI has seen IIR’s on SIPR and knows that the US state department always negotiates by using CF countries or independent sovereign/neutral country to mediate and compromising.”
“This department has not changed from the Daryl Gates and Mark Fuhrman days. Those officers are still employed and have all promoted to Command staff and supervisory positions. I will correct this error. Are you aware that an officer (a rookie/probationer at the time) seen on the Rodney King videotape striking Mr. King multiple times with a baton on 3/3/91 is still employed by the LAPD and is now a Captain on the police department? Captain Rolando Solano is now the commanding officer of a LAPD police station (West LA division). As a commanding officer, he is now responsible for over 200 officers. Do you trust him to enforce department policy and investigate use of force investigations on arrestees by his officers? Are you aware Evans has since promoted to Sergeant after kicking Mr. Gettler in the face. Oh, you Violated a citizens civil rights? We will promote you. Same as LAPD did with the the officers from Metro involved in the May Day melee at MacArthur Park. They promoted them to Sergeant (a supervisor role).”
“Terminating officers because they expose a culture of lying, racism (from the academy), and excessive use of force will immediately change. PSB can not police their own and that has been proven. The blue line will forever be severed and a cultural change will be implanted. You have awoken a sleeping giant.”
“Citizens/non-combatants, do not render medical aid to downed officers/enemy combatants. They would not do the same for you. They will let you bleed out just so they can brag to other officers that they had a 187 caper the other day and can’t wait to accrue the overtime in future court subpoenas. As they always say, “that’s the paramedics job…not mine”. Let the balance of loss of life take place. Sometimes a reset needs to occur.”
English: LAPD officers at crime scene (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
“Don’t honor these fallen officers/dirtbags. When your family members die, they just see you as extra overtime at a crime scene and at a perimeter. Why would you value their lives when they clearly don’t value yours or your family members lives? I’ve heard many officers who state they see dead victims as ATV’s, Waverunners, RV’s and new clothes for their kids. Why would you shed a tear for them when they in return crack a smile for your loss because of the impending extra money they will receive in their next paycheck for sitting at your loved ones crime scene of 6 hours because of the overtime they will accrue. They take photos of your loved ones recently deceased bodies with their cellphones and play a game of who has the most graphic dead body of the night with officers from other divisions. This isn’t just the 20 something year old officers, this is the 50 year old officers with significant time on the job as well who participate.”

How do you know when a police officer is lying??? When he begins his sentence with, “based on my experience and training”.
“If possible, I want my brain preserved for science/research to study the effects of severe depression on an individual’s brain. Since 6/26/08 when I was relieved of duty and 1/2/09 when I was terminated I have been afflicted with severe depression. I’ve had two CT scans during my lifetime that are in my medical record at Kaiser Permanente. Both are from concussions resulting from playing football. The first one was in high school, 10/96. The second was in college and occurred in 10/99. Both were conducted at Kaiser Permanente hospitals in LA/Orange county. These two CT scans should give a good baseline for my brain activity before severe depression began in late 2008.”
“On Monday, Vote Yes Linn County released a list of 58 investors, including the group’s leader, Steve Gray.”
“In recent days, the Vote Yes Linn County campaign had said the investor group was larger, but Marcia Rogers, the campaign communications director, on Monday said she had misspoken.”
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, 58<100+. Is this a spinning of all stock investors in the casino? The numbers just don’t add up.
$100million/58=$1.724million each. Are these 58 admitted “local” investors up to capitalizing the $100 million it will take to get a casino up and running?
State gambling regulators will want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Iowa’s gambling regulators will want to know all involved and their stake in the game. Linn County voters should know the same.
Considering the casino gang’s reluctance to initially release any investors involved and the conflicting stories, we must resort to speculation:
If you are willing to invest based on conflicting and incomplete information, place your bets.
Vote Yes for Linn County Gambling
Do you gamble? Do you drive out-of-town to gamble? Would you continue to drive out of town to gamble if there was a casino in your hometown? On March 5, 2013 Linn County voters will be deciding just that in a special election. I circled Cedar Rapids in red on the map of the casinos in Iowa below for people to see how saturated Eastern Iowa already is with casinos. What would happen if the people of Linn County vote in favor of a casino? Other casinos worry they could go bankrupt. Make no mistake the casinos in other communities want to keep your business!
Already this casino is generating jobs but not from the side you’d expect. While a commercial airs over and over on the television advertising jobs the opposition is taking applications and searching for volunteers. One of their arguments was that this won’t be a county owned casino and that the private investors and their non-profit are the ones calling the shots. When I questioned the “vote no” office workers about who was funding the “no vote” initiative at their office yesterday they told me that some of the money was invested by outside casinos. Here is their argument in a flier that I obtained from their office at 1134 9th Street SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403 (parking in the rear). The investors are the same old people who always find ways to make a quick buck or profit from public money. Where will the money from Cedar Rapids casino go if people vote in favor of it? I obtained this information from the Vote Yes Linn County website: http://voteyeslinncounty.com/community-improvement
Will this election mirror the last special election? Many of the people who signed the petition to extend the Local Option Sales Tax didn’t even vote in the election. Like other special elections that have taken place in Linn County over the last two years it boils down to trust.
Playing the same commercial over and over on TV will wear on the public. Where is the “vote yes” office located? Where is the public face for the vote yes group and exactly who are they going to reach out to in the community for grassroots support? The labor unions were in support of the Local Option Sales Tax measure that failed not once but twice!
Where are the young local enthusiastic people who worked for the “vote yes” campaign back in 2003 when this issue was on the ballot? Those people were energized and were able to get people out to vote in favor of the casino because they were planning to work there when/if it opened. Would a casino improve Cedar Rapids? Maybe. Would a casino with this set of investors be the wisest decision? Probably not.
