We went to the triangle on Blairsferry Road NE and I380 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where we met the panhandler. Even though we weren’t even in his vicinity (we were across the street) he got mad and yelled at us for “coming around”. We weren’t there asking for any money. We were doing a sign wave exercising our freedom of speech and expression. He acted as if he was entitled to this tiny piece of land and I wonder, does he pay taxes on it? How about the money he makes? He was not nice! We tried to include him offered to “help” him (his sign said “Please help”) but he didn’t want our help he wanted us gone so that he could make money. I’ve given people money on that corner. Never again.
Aside from the rude panhandler we received positive feedback from the drivers! We got a lot of honks and thumbs up. Only one middle finger! You can’t win them all.
The newspaper finally did a story on Greg Hughes but it seemed gender biased. I like Robin Tucker’s idea of taking gender out of the Iowa Constitution. That is something we can do at the grassroots level across the state if we’re tired of the gender bias going on- on all levels.
A couple years ago my son came up from Alabama to visit. He got permission from his father to stay. When I called asking for help he freaked out and filed charges on me. I tried to get a lawyer to help me. There was no way I could go to Alabama. Greg helped me act on behalf of myself and my parents were there in person. Had I not filed the paperwork I did I wouldn’t be here to type this blog. Greg Hughes is the real deal and it doesn’t matter if you are a man or a woman.
I do a lot of court watching. I have gone to I don’t know how many court proceedings over the last few years. I’ve seen these judges in action. People complain about the judges but don’t vote on them. Educate yourselves! There will be more about how to do this on my blogs in the future. Things are spiraling out of control.
Which leads me to why I am voting for Gary Johnson and his Vice President pick Judge Grey. Both know that things have spun out of control within our judicial system. Kids are going to jail and made into criminals over a plant! Why? Because the government can’t figure out how to make money off of it without locking people up for smoking it. Ridiculous is what it is. Hemp could help our environment and essentially save our economy! It’s not like people aren’t going around finding alternatives to smoke to get past the drug testing. I would rather be around a bunch of pot heads than a bunch of people smoking incense! Now they are making up MORE LAWS to restrict the legality of that!
I am kind of offended that the media is literally ignoring our local candidate for congress. While some outsider gets prime time coverage for being “interesting”. Really? How is Greg Hughes NOT INTERESTING? Does him making it on the Daily Paul as the ONLY liberty candidate in Iowa running for Congress count for anything? How about the fact that he is the chairman of the Iowa Child Support Advisory Committee to the Iowa Supreme Court? Or how about the fact that he is the only viable candidate for congress who isn’t a lawyer!
Why does the media ignore Mr. Hughes? Well they ignore him based on a Governor race (from all four districts and all 99 counties) where he only got 3600 votes. I think that’s pretty good considering he got no real media coverage from the mainstream. Then Mr. Lynch from the Gazette mentioned polls- what polls? How are people supposed to make an informed decision when the media won’t cover them? It’s no wonder people from out of state are running for office! Would the media even know if someone from the Lange campaign didn’t point it out?
Check it out yourself I got it on video!
With little notice the Hughes campaign was able to put together an event that resulted in 33 people coming by asking questions and wanting signs.
Two hours is how long the event took place. There was free food and drinks (including beer). Jim Pate stood outside holding up the “Free Beer and Food” sign while people drove by they yelled “What’s the catch?” There was no catch. Just some good old fashioned face to face time with congressional candidate Greg Hughes!
We will be having another event soon! Stay tuned and go like “Greg Hughes for Congress” on Facebook!
The Greg Hughes for Congress Campaign has opened an office at 1917 Mt. Vernon Road SE. If you are interested in volunteering please give Greg a call at 319-651-3622 or come to the Greg Hughes for Congress Facebook page to discuss the issues or find out how you can help! Click here for more details!
It’s up to us to elect liberty candidates. When our court system is more about profit than doing its job, we have a problem. The only way we can fix it is to get the right people into elected positions. Only we can fix this! Take responsibility for your liberty and get involved today!
Families are being torn apart by the system and the courts are 99.9% of the problem. You can’t make this stuff up. There are too many stories to list on this blog but I will share a couple!
The stories make are enough to make one cringe!
A Iraq Veteran, a victim of the economy was late making his payments to the Child Support and a judge put him in jail over it! How is someone supposed to get caught up on Child Support if they can’t work? To make matters worse the veteran got caught up and even received a refund check but the judge didn’t care he ordered more jail time. That doesn’t make any sense at all. Why are judges wasting our resources to imprison people for debt? If people were going to be imprisoned for their debt then why isn’t Congressman Joe Walsh in prison for being $175,000 behind? Something just isn’t right.
Another Iowa father, Michael, is ordered by a judge to do supervised visits with his mother in-law. Even though she stated that she would “rather take a knife and stick it in his throat than look at his face”. What kind of judge puts a child that they are supposed to be protecting in a predicament like that? Iowa Judges that’s who!
Not only are our families under attack but our civil liberties are as well. We need a congressman who believes in the Constitution and internet freedom. Can we count on Bruce Braley to continue to vote against these attacks on our civil liberties? I don’t know. What will Ben Lange do? Who knows! They are both lawyers and we all know that lawyers aren’t going to stop madness in the judicial system!
It’s up to us to put the power of the people back into the people’s hands. It’s time to step out of the two party paradigm and really study the candidates. What has Bruce Braley done for us over the last six years besides vote against SOPA? He pretends to be a liberty candidate when the issue is high profile. Where does he stand on the Red Light cameras? Where does he stand on anything really? Greg Hughes is recognized as District 1’s “Liberty Candidate” by the Daily Paul
On the issues:
Pro Second Amendment (against unconstitutional wars):
Abortion and Gay Marriage:

Seems to me that the only press third-party candidates can get in the mainstream media is negative. That’s too bad. I would like to know how the Gazette and Rod Boshart came up with the conclusion that Iowan’s aren’t interested in third-party candidates! Why is the comment section closed on the “Third party isn’t charm for Iowa voters” story? Why isn’t there a poll to see where Iowan’s really stand? If Iowan’s aren’t interested in Gary Johnson then why are his yard signs popping up all over town?
If Gary Johnson isn’t a “threat” to anyone then why did republicans across the country sue to keep him off the ballot? If our votes for Gary Johnson went to Mitt Romney, or Obama, then why bother with any law suit at all!
Not one word has been uttered about the Independent candidate for Congress, former Independent candidate for Governor, Greg Hughes. Greg Hughes is a factory worker who chairs the Iowa Child Support Advisory Committee to the Supreme Court who has been a family advocate for many years. Greg Hughes is the only candidate for congress talking about issues that are important to the Iowan’s I know that have been impacted by the court system. I am tired of the attack ads between the two attorneys constantly being aired on television I want to hear about Greg Hughes and what direction he would take District 1 if he were elected for Congress.
Seems to me that the only press third-party candidates can get in the mainstream media is negative. That’s too bad. I would like to know how the Gazette and Rod Boshart came up with the conclusion that Iowan’s aren’t interested in third-party candidates? Is the writer only asking party players? Why is the comment section closed on the “Third party isn’t charm for Iowa voters” story? Why isn’t there a poll available? Are both parties worried about their status? Where do Iowan’s really stand?
“Two is company and three generally is a crowd when it comes to presidential politics in Iowa” I would like to know how the Gazette and Rod Boshart decided that third-party candidates didn’t matter in this election. Who did they ask? I haven’t seen any third-party candidates in the polls! I haven’t seen any third-party candidates in any debates or in the news!
““If ever there was going to be a year when you’d think you would have a credible third-party candidate, it would have been this year because the political system, particularly at the federal level, seems so dysfunctional, yet we have not had that,” said Des Moines attorney Doug Gross, a 2002 gubernatorial candidate in Iowa who is active in Republican politics.””
My question is if Gary Johnson wasn’t a legitimate candidate then why did members of the Republican Party file a law suit to try to keep him off the ballot? Something isn’t adding up here! Gary Johnson is not only a legitimate candidate he is also a qualified candidate who appeared as such in the presidential primary debates!
This election has been made into a three ringed circus in the State of Iowa by the GOP and now we want our third-party candidate included in the news media and the national debates. “It’s not the fault of Iowan’s that the GOP broke the media’s trust during the caucus“. If people are unhappy with the results then they need to get involved!
Even though the majority of delegates sent to Tampa from Iowa were there to represent Ron Paul our own Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds wouldn’t mention his name at all during the Republican National Convention that aired live on CNN. Instead of letting the public hear from Ron Paul, Clint Eastwood was given an empty chair to speak to. The two-party system is broke and voting for either party isn’t going to fix it!
Thankfully, there are third-party candidates suing for the right to air time.
I would like to know how the Gazette and Rod Boshart came up with the conclusion that Iowan’s aren’t interested in third party candidates during this election cycle or any other election for that matter! According to the Secretary of State as of September 2012 active Republicans total: 620868, the active Democrats total: 602636, and the active No Party voters total: 666279. Have the active No Party voters been polled? Is the Gazette and the two-party system presuming that the No Party voters will go with one or the other? With all the social media technology there is no way that everyone will be convinced that the two-party system is the only way to go.
If the public were informed about these third parties there would no doubt be an increase in interest!
I have carefully vetted the candidates for congress during this election and I will be supporting Greg Hughes. No one has ever heard of him because the media doesn’t cover third-party candidates. If they give one third-party candidate any air time they have to give it to the rest of the third-party candidates. I would rather hear from all the candidates than hear the same three ads air over and over and over.
This media problem isn’t limited to presidential elections. Nope, this happens in every election. Not one word has been uttered about the Independent candidate for Congress, former candidate for Governor, Greg Hughes. is a factory worker who chairs the Iowa Child Support Advisory Committee to the Supreme Court that has been a family advocate for many years. Greg Hughes is the only candidate for congress talking about issues that are important to the Iowan’s I know. The people I’ve talked to are tired of attack ads between the two attorneys and their PACS that are constantly being aired on television. I want to hear about Greg Hughes and what direction he would take District 1 if he were elected to Congress.
I was one of the Ron Paul delegates who went all the way through the process up to the state level. I am not interested in either establishment candidate and now I am working tirelessly to get the word out about our alternatives. Yes, we have alternatives. A vote for these alternatives is a vote against the two-party trap.
THEY GOT BAILED OUT!
WE GOT SOLD OUT!
Lucky people who have jobs have attacked poor people just trying to live because of all the tax money that they use to eat and pay rent. Meantime, corporations are living like fat cats, sipping wine, and contributing to Mitt Romney! The corporations are not hard-working Americans! They are the biggest welfare recipients of all!!
What the hell is going on around here? WE HAD A LEGITIMATE CANDIDATE whose top contributors are in the military and the Wall Street guy gets the nomination?
Where is the American patriotism? Unplug the TV and WAKE UP!
We constantly thank our troops for fighting wars that aren’t even constitutional and then disregard the candidate who received his donations from ACTIVE MILITARY?

The American public must know that the man who has ads on television bashing President Obama about his welfare to work requirements is the biggest welfare recipient in the country! He got his money from companies who got big bailouts that destroyed the middle class!
