“Jennalyn Schilke started going to Station casinos at age 7, romping in the Kids Quest child centers while her parents went to the casino floors.

Now 23, she’s still a Station regular. You can often find her playing the slots at Station’s Fiesta Henderson.”

Only a fool would bet a Cedar Rapids casino will draw “1million tourists” a year. Cedar Rapids will never be destination station. A Cedar Rapids Gambling Station will prey on locals for generations to come.

Your Numbers May Not Come Up

Ruined

Then What?

The Cedar Rapids casino gang has thrown a lot of numbers around. A lot of numbers that keep changing.

Being charitable in excess of 3%, split the casino Gang’s claim of $80 to $100 million to get rolling. Run the numbers. Assess the odds. Speculate on the results.

How Much Did Each Ante Up?

“On Monday, Vote Yes Linn County released a list of 58 investors, including the group’s leader, Steve Gray.”

“In recent days, the Vote Yes Linn County campaign had said the investor group was larger, but Marcia Rogers, the campaign communications director, on Monday said she had misspoken.”

http://thegazette.com/2013/02/04/vote-yes-linn-county-releases-list-of-58-investors-in-casino-project/

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, 58<100+. Is this a spinning of all stock investors in the casino? The numbers just don’t add up.

$100million/58=$1.724million each.  Are these 58 admitted “local” investors up to capitalizing the $100 million it will take to get a casino up and running?

State gambling regulators will want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Iowa’s gambling regulators will want to know all involved and their stake in the game. Linn County voters should know the same.

Considering the casino gang’s reluctance to initially release any investors involved and the conflicting stories, we must resort to speculation:

City of Cedar Rapids Chapter 29 Forces Man into Streets

Snapshot - 2
“He needs to get out of his own house for his own good” according to the police who forced this man to leave his home today in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Now, homeless, this man’s only crime is not being in compliance with the city and their costly ordinances. He hasn’t broken any state laws.

29.14 – TENANT RESPONSIBILITY
Tenant to maintain dwelling unit. The tenant shall:
(1) Comply with all obligations primarily imposed upon tenants by applicable provisions of building and housing codes materially affecting health and safety.
(2) Keep that part of the premises that the tenant occupies and uses as clean and safe as the condition of the premises permit.
(3) Dispose from the tenant’s dwelling unit all ashes, rubbish, garbage, and other waste in a clean and safe manner.
(4) Keep all plumbing fixtures in the dwelling unit or used by the tenant as clean as their condition permits.
(5) Use in a reasonable manner all electrical, plumbing, sanitary, heating, ventilating, air-conditioning and other facilities and appliances including elevators in the premises.
(6) Not deliberately or negligently destroy, deface, damage, impair or remove a part of the premises or knowingly permit a person to do so.
(7) Act in a manner that will not disturb a neighbor’s peaceful enjoyment of the premises.

It is cold outside! Where do the city and police propose Mr. Fairchild go since they deemed his house uninhabitable? The streets? It’s his house, I highly doubt he is going to try to set it on fire! What is the deal with this city and poor people? Why does it feel the need to put this man on the street? Are these city ordinances more important to the city staff than people? YES!

Worried about Panhandlers while Violent Crimes go Unsolved

kgan post panhandlers

Seriously, we’ve had several shootings, a home invasion, a bank robbery right downtown and a carjacking that the media downgraded to “car stolen at gunpoint” and the City Council is talking about aggressive panhandlers?

The City of Cedar Rapids is revisiting the issue of panhandling tonight.  The City Council shot down a proposed ordinance to ban it three years ago.  Coming up on CBS 2 News at 10, Gabe Erickson talks with one man who panhandles to make ends meet.  What do you think? Does the city need to prohibit “aggressive solicitation”?  http://www.cbs2iowa.com/shared/newsroom/top_stories/videos/kgan_vid_13745.shtml

My post the other day, “Times are Hard” was merely to shed light on what one panhandler said about another panhandler (who in the past has acted aggressive towards me over “his spot”).  I want to make it clear right here and now I didn’t feel like either of them were being aggressive towards me at all in my video!  If the guy I talked to in my video is right then the man interviewed in the KGAN video owns a house and is saving up to buy land!

Colloidal Silver Testimony

When I first heard of colloidal silver I was intrigued but I was also fearful.  I mean don’t want to turn blue but I was in a bind and I had to do something!  Times are tough and I cannot afford to visit a dentist. If I could afford to visit a dentist would have already so lecturing me about it will not help.

My tooth hurt for one day when my face swelled. Thankfully, I had already ordered the colloidal silver off Amazon.com before my face swelled up three times it’s normal size.  It hurt so bad.  It was swollen for three days when the colloidal silver finally came in.

Not at my best with a swollen jaw

Not at my best with a swollen jaw

I know people have turned a bluish color from excessive use of colloidal silver.  I do not plan to use it in excess but after my recent experience I will be using it in the future for other ailments as they arise!

Man Expected to Recover After Late-night Shooting in Cedar Rapids

images (17)CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A man is expected to recover after he was shot Thursday night in Cedar Rapids.

Officers responded around 10:14 p.m. to 720 1/2 Fourth Ave. SE and found a man who had been shot in the left arm. The man, identified as 35-year-old Joshua Spears of Cedar Rapids, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital and later transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.  Investigators determined three men, two black and one white, entered the apartment through an unlocked door, and one of the men displayed a “long gun.” Some words were exchanged and Spears was shot. The three suspects then fled the area.

Police believe Spears was targeted, but are unsure about all the circumstances involved.  It was the first shooting of the year in Cedar Rapids after a sharp spike in gunfire in 2012.  Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463) or send a text message to CRIMES (274637) with 5227 in the subject or message area, along with the tip.

my 2 centsjailing our kids while his are let offHow many people will be made into criminals over these archaic marijuana laws? When will it be morally unacceptable to throw someone in prison for growing/using a plant that can be found growing all over Iowa in the wild?  Just remember, there is a market here for marijuana and where there is a market for illegal drugs there are always people willing to take the risk to fulfill that void.  Not everyone likes to go out and booze it up!  The war on drugs has become a war on American families and the resources we’re using to fight this so called war could be used elsewhere to solve real crimes with real victims! Legalizing the plant could save our economy! We will never get anywhere with this until we get rid of Branstad!

We aren’t even a week into the New Year and already someone was shot here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Guns and gun laws have become a hot topic! Gun stores are reporting record sales since the mass shootings across the country took place.
